The Carrier Dome

is a 49,262-seat sports stadium located on the campus of Syracuse University (SU). It is the only domed stadium in the Northeast, and is the largest structure of its kind on a college campus in the country.


Since its opening on September 20, 1980, the facility has hosted a wide variety of events. The facility serves as the home of SU football, men's and women’s basketball, and men's and women's lacrosse. Furthermore, the "Dome" has hosted numerous rounds of NCAA championships in basketball, lacrosse and track and field and hosts regional and state scholastic competitions in football, as well as NBA pre-season games.

In addition to sporting events, the Dome has staged Olympic champion ice skating shows, as well as concerts by stars such as Elton John, Billy Joel, Rod Stewart, U2, Genesis, the Rolling Stones, Garth Brooks, The Who, Neil Diamond, Pink Floyd, the Zak Brown Band and many other rock and country performers.

SU's annual Commencement ceremony and various academic convocations take place in the Dome. The Billy Graham Crusade visited Syracuse and the Carrier Dome in 1989. Moreover, the annual celebration honoring the life of Martin Luther King Jr. is hosted in the Dome annually.

All told, by December 2009 more than 27 million patrons have attended Carrier Dome events!



Toyota Frozen Dome Classic

 201For the first time in the Dome's 34 year history there is an ice rinkwhere there normally is turf or hardwood.The Syracuse Crunch took on the Utica Comets in the Frozen Dome Classic on Saturday, November 22nd 2014. It's the first professional hockey game played in the historic Carrier Dome! The crowd of 30,715 was the largest to ever watch an indoor pro game in the United States.It was the second largest single-game crowd in AHL history, ranking behind the 45,653 people who attended a Jan. 6, 2012 outdoor game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.



Monster Jam 2014

The road to the Monster Jam World Finals rolled into the sold out Carrier Dome here in Syracuse NY. Monster Jam fans had 16 of the top Monster Jam drivers battling it out in Monster Jam racing and fox sports 1 freestyle competition's. With 10 of the 16 competitors World final competitors and 4 young gun competitors in the field the sold out Carrier Dome saw over the top "As Big As It Gets" Monster Jam action all night long.
